ABOUT HADIYYAT AL-NASIH WA HIZB AL-FALAH AL-NAJIH:
This is a laterday textbook on Shafi'i fiqh designed to teach the Wajibat, Sunan, Adab, Makruhat in a easy fashion and abridged style so thath laymen can easily digest these masa'il. After it was written, it was quickly disseminated all over Cairo and many students would memorise it. The author says in the introduction; "I sought guidance from Allah that He would enable me to compile some of the Ahkam that is compulsory upon every Mu'min. I explained its Sunan as well as its etiquette, its disliked branches, and I named this book; Hadiyyat al-Nasih Wa Hizb al-Falah al-Najih fi Ma'rifat

ABOUT THIS COMMENTARY:
An amazing and in depth commentary which has been a reference since its it was written. This was written due to popular request from Imam's students so as to clarify its terminologies. Many positions expressed in this text by al-Zahid were contrary to the Mu'tamad position of the Madhah so he explained it further.

This edition is based on eight different manuscripts that were written early on in the imams career. Extensively edited in some places with notes and in other places minor notes. An amazing book with excellent editorial work done. It also contains an introduction to the Shafi'i Madhab and its text books.
ABOUT IMAM SHIHAB AL-DIN AHMED AL-ZAHID:
His name was Ahmed b. Muhammad b. Sulayman, Shihab al-Din Abu al-'Abbas, widely known as al-Zahid, of Egypt. Not much of his early life and birth is known, except that he was proficient student and later grew up to be able and firm scholar.
His teachers included; Shihab al-Din Ahmed al-'Amad al-Aqfahsi, whom he learned allot in fiqh and became his source for much of his work. Among his students were; Shams al-Din Muhammad al-Ghumri, Madyan al-Maghrabi, Abd al-Rahman b. Baktamar, Shihab al-Din al-Qusi.
Imam al-Zahid was known for his war' and was a teacher to many of the laymen in Cairo. He was known to teach the womenfolk in Masjid and say; "These women are not taught the affair of their Din nor do their husbands bother to teach them."

He passed away in 24th of Rabi' al-Awwal in the year 819 Hijri.
ABOUT IMAM SHAMS AL-DIN MUHAMMED B. AHMED AL-RAMLI:
His name was Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad Shihab al-Din al Ramli born in Ramlah, a village near Manufiyyah in Egypt, in 919AH. He was the son of a famous Shafi`i faqih and mufti, Shihab al-Din Ahmad al-Ramli.
His teachers include his father;

--- al-Khatib al-Shirbini,
--- Burhan al-Din Abu Ishaw Ibrahim b. Muhammad,

After his father’s death he became the chief Shafi’i mufti in Egypt. Such was his eminence that many came to identify him as the Mujaddid of his century. He was known as 'Little Shafi'i'.
