ABOUT QATR AL-NADA:
This book is a master book on the science of Arabic grammar by the great linguist and grammarian Jamal al-Din Ibn Hisham al-Ansari (708/1309 - 761/1360). He later wrote a commentary on this small text book which is the one that is normally studied title simply Sharh Qatr al-Nada waballu al-Sada. This work is slightly based on his other masterpiece Shudhur al-Dhahab fi Ma'rifat Kalam al-'Arab. This title is intermediately title usually read or studied after the Ajurrumiyyah.
كتاب شرح قطر الندى وبل الصدى هو كتاب في علم النحو مؤلفه ابن هشام الأنصاري، من أئمة اللغة العربية، يتكون من أصل وشرح لنفس المؤلف، فالأصل هو متن: قطر الندى وبل الصدى، والشرح هو شرح لنفس المتن، ويتضمن معظم أبواب النحو بصورة قريبة من كتاب شذور الذهب في معرفة كلام العرب، من حيث الطرح وترتيب العناوين، إلا أنه أقل منه تفصيلا، بما يجعله أنسب للقارئ والمتعلم، في أو سط مراحل التعليم. يبدء بالكلمة، وينتهي بهمزة الوصل، يقول مؤلف قطر الندى في أوله: «بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، الكلمة قول مفرد، وهي: اسم وفعل وحرف، فأما الاسم؛ فيعرف بأل...».
ويعتبر متن: قطر الندى موجزا تتلخص فيه قواعد نحوية بصيغة مختصرة، والشرح هو توضيح لمحتوى عبارات المتن، وبيان ما يقصد منها، ويتضمن التقسيمات والتفاصيل، ويذكر الشواهد. ويعد الكتاب أحد المراجع النحوية.

This commentary is one of the best Hashiya works on the Qatr al-Nada. Popularly studied in Africa and Arabia for its detailed notes and its expertise of the subject. It is one used by advanced students and teachers alike.

ABOUT IMAM JAMAL AL-DIN ABD ALLAH IBN HISHAM:
He was al-'Allamah, al-shaykh Abu Muhammad 'Abd Allah Jamal al-Din bin Ahmad bin 'Abd Allah bin Hisham al-Ansari was born in the month of Dhul Qihdah 708 Hijri, which is in agreement with 1309 A.D. He was born in Egypt. He quickly became a lover of knowledge as young age and would just sit with scholars and in the circles of study.
Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani mentions him in his book al-Durar al-Kamina that he took knowledge from all the great scholars of his time such as Taj al-Tabrizi, Taj al-Fakahani, Shuhab ibn al-Marhal and Ibn Jama'ah. His students didn't become well known but however it was testified that a lot of scholars from Egypt took from him.
He quickly became famous for his works in the science of Arabic grammar, such as:

He wrote over 28 titles or works in regards to Nahw, Sarf and Lughah, all being in the science of Arabic Grammar.
His fame was not limited to Egypt but quickly reached in the lands of east and west. While mentioning this, Imam Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani quotes ibn Khaldum saying: 'Everywhere we went in Morocco we would hear that there has come from Egypt an unparalleled scholar in the science of Arabic Grammar, not even reached by Sibawayh'. He was a Shafi'i in Madh-hab and later became lenient towards the Hanbali Madh-hab.
He passed away in friday evening 5th of Dhil Qa'dah 761 which is in agreement with 1360 A.D.
ABOUT IMAM AL-SUJA'I:
He was al-'Allamah, al-shaykh Ahmed b. Ahmed b. Muhammad al-Suja'i al-Badrawi al-Azhari al-Shafi'i, born in Cairo to family of scholars. He was raised in an environment of learning and quickly inherited an uncanny appetite to learning and memorisation. His father was the Shaykh al-Azhar of then and studied much under him and many of his fathers colleagues and contemporaries. He studied also among others Imam al-Murtada al-Zabidi and Shaykh Hassan b. Ibrahim al-Jabarti al-Zayla'i, the father of the famed historian Abd al-Rahman al-Jabarti al-Zayla'i, both of whom were of Somali origin. Imam al-Suja'i has had many other students under his belt and some remarkable written works;

He passed away in Cairo on Tuesday night, 16th of Safar 1197 Hijri and was buried next to his father.
ABOUT SHAYKH MUHAMMAD MUHY AL-DIN 'ABD AL-HAMID:
He was al-Allamah Abu Raja' Muhammad Muhy al-Din Ibn 'Abd al-Hamid b. Ibrahim al-Misri. born in Cairo in 1900. He initialy gained his knowledge in Dimyat than moved to al-Azhar up to the point of his graduation in 1925. He became an expert of grammarian and wrote many works on the field and other subjects until he was called the 'Suyuti of Today' (Suyuti al-'Asr).

He has many other editorial works he has produced and some of his own work;

He passed away in 24th of Dhil Qa'dah 1392 H / 1973 CE in Cairo and had a much attended burial.
