DETAILED DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE MINHAJ AL-TALIBIN:
This is a Islamic law manual based on the Sahfi'i madhab. It is a practical manual for judges of the Shafi’i legal tradition. It offers principles and precedents, with few of the linguistic and other digressions often found in legal writing. The work covers many topics. The author of this work is, Imam al-Nawawi, may God have mercy upon him, is the pillar of the madhhab among the late scholars, so what he states and deems weightier in the madhhab is relied upon, not anything else. The secret behind this is that it is a concise summary that comprises most investigations, questions, and essential rulings in a language that is succinct, easy and accurate; excellently arranged and extremely refined; and it points out the differences of opinions in the madhhab without unnecessary elaboration. The various commentaries of the minhaj that are relied upon are; Ibn Hajar’s Tuhfat al-Muhtaj, being the widely used, then Ramli’s Nihayat al-Muhtaj, then after by Fath al-Wahab and Sharh al-Saghir of Zakariyya al-Ansari, then thereafter Shirbini’s Mughni al-Muhtaj, then after Mahalli’s Kanz al-Raghibin.

ABOUT KANZ AL-RAGHIBIN:
Kanz al-Raghibin Sharh Minhaj al-Talibin is Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli’s (d. 864) commentary on Imam Nawawi’s Minhaj al-Talibin is perhaps one of the smallest but yet comprehensive commentaries of the early days in the late 8th century Hijri. Mughni al-Muhtaj and the earlier Kanz al-Raghibin of al-Mahalli are the only direct commentaries still being taught.

THIS PRINT:
This print is edited by a master in the Shafi'i madhab today and precise muhaqqiq, the younger brother of Shaykh Wahb al-Zuhayli; Shaykh Muhammad al-Zuhayli. He has larger four volume work to him name among others, presenting the official position of the school of Imam Shafi'i titled as; al-Mu'tamad.

This print of Kanz al-Raghibin is very goo in the sense that nawawi's text is boxed separately and the commentary follows it separately. The editor takes painful and precise effort to pinpoint imam Mahalli's quotes and statements. He has also edited the ahadiths and cross referenced the quoted works in this text.

ABOUT IMAM AL-NAWAWI:
Imam al-Nawawi is one of the most well known scholars and spiritual masters in Muslim history. He was a consummate scholar of several disciplines, including law, Prophetic traditions, Quran exegesis, and grammar. His works and profound personal circumspection have inspired millions of believers on spiritual and intellectual planes. He was born in Greater Syria, where he also died in 1277 at the age of 45. He was and continues to be the most referenced scholar in the Shafi'i Madhab.

Al Hafiz al Suyuti describing  his teacher, said; "He was following the footsteps of the Salaf, enjoining goodness and piety, striving towards ma’ruf and forbidding munkar acts. Rulers in Cairo wished to seek his audience but he always refuse them.” Once, a ruler in Cairo wish to provide Imam al Mahalli with some clothing's and money but he refused, saying “I do not seek wealth!
