ABOUT SAFWAT AL-ZUBAD:
Matn al-Zubad (متن الزبد), also known as the book Manzumat Safwat al-Zubad or Alfiyyah Zubad fi'l Fiqh al-Shafi'i is a work in the school of Imam al-Shafi'i in the form of poetry (poem) that contain more than 1,000 verses, very well-known throughout the Islamic world. Then and now memorisation of Matn al-Zubad is emphasized by the traditional institutions of Islam. It is said that the book of Matn al-Zubad Ibn Ruslan arrangement is actually derived from a work by Hibatullah bin Abd al-Rahim al-Barazi (645-738H), a book reconstituted from Matn Abu Shuja' with some additions by the author.
Matn al-Zubad can be divided into 4 parts, namely; Introduction (Tamhid), Faith (al-Muqaddimah fi 'Ilm al-Usul), Complete Fiqh: explaining problems in the school of fiqh al-Shafi'i, starting with al-Kitab al-Taharah to Qadha', which covers all the normal issues of fiqh touched by the jurists. Discussions on the Fiqh is the main content of the book, Conclusion (al-Khatimah fi 'Ilm al-Tasawwuf); explained briefly about the science of Suluk and Sufism. Matn al-Zubad has received high attention among scholars of Shafi'i fiqh. They have compiled several books of fiqh that a reference in the school. Amongst them are;

ABOUT MAWAHIB AS-SAMAD:
This commentary is meant to be precise and short. The authors intent as expressed in his opening statements is to "Explain the terminologies, expound its benefit, while trotting the middle path". As such this is perhaps one of the best and most refined commentaries on the Zubad. You won't be lost in it as it is not detailed and meant to explain terminologies and or idioms. .
ABOUT THIS PRINT:
This print contains background study of the various commentaries of the Zubad as well as the historic importance of the text book. Also the editor adds some additional and benefical notes about the lifes of both authors. He relied on this print for the Mustafa al-Babi al-Halabi 3rd edition of 1357 hijri. The repeated words in bolded and bracketed text is the text book. He also adds some additional notes in the footnote with complete Takhrij here and there. Some of the terminologies are further annotated by the editor from the popular Shafi'i fiqh works like the Tuhfat al-Tullab, al-Minhaj and Tuhfat al-Habib. He has also relied mostly on the another two commentaries of this text book which is Ghayat al-Bayan and Ifadat al-Sadah.
ABOUT IMAM IBN RASLAN:
He is Imam Shihab al-Din Abu al-'Abbas Ahmed b. Hussain b. Hassan b. Ali b. Arsalan, al-Ramli born in 773 Hijri in Ramlah, Palestine. He was initiated in his Islamic Studies in there, memorising early on the Qur'an and quickly became an ardent student of the other sciences, excelling in Nahw, poetry, jurisprudence, Hadith and many other sciences. Amongst his senior teachers were; al-Maghribi, Shams al-Din al-Qalqashnidi, Ibn al-Ha'im, al-'Amadi, al-Bustami, al-Qarmi, al-Muhibb al-Fasi, Ibn al-Gharabili, Ibn al-Dhahabi, and Jalal al-Din al-Bulqini and his son, Siraj al-Din al-Bulqini. He was also widely known as a pious man who left many scholarly works such as;

At the end of his life he travelled to Bayt al-Maqdis and he died there on a Wednesday 14th of Sha'ban 844 Hijri.
ABOUT IMAM AHMED HIJJAZI:
His name was Shihab al-Din Ahmed b. Hijjazi b. Budayr al-Fashni born in Egypt. At a young age he attended various studies and became prominent in his circles. Amongtst his scholars were the likes of Imam Muhammad al-Khatib al-Shirbini (d. 977) and Imam Shihab al-Din Ahmed b. Hamzah al-Ramli (d. 957) . Some of his popular works are;
