ABOUT KITAB AL-SHIFA:
Kitab Ash-shifa bi ta'rif huquq al-Mustafa, (Healing by the recognition of the Rights of the Chosen One), of Qadi Iyad is perhaps the most frequently used and most commented upon handbook in which the Prophets life, his qualities and miracles are described in every detail. This book is highly admired throughout the Muslim world and is quick to acquaint the reader with the true stature of the Prophet (SAW). It had seen plenty commentaries and annotations in the past millennia.

 

نسيم الرياض في شرح شفا القاضي عياض: تأليف القاضي شهاب الدين الخفاجي

يُعتبَر هذا الكتابُ من أوسع وأضبط شروح كتاب (الشِّفا بتعريف حقوق المصطفى) للقاضي عياض، حيث قيل فيه أنه: لا أَفْيَدَ منه ولا أوسعَ في شروح (الشِّفا) كلِّها، المشارقة والمغاربة، فهو من أفضل شروحه وأوفاها.
كما يُعَدّ الأصل المشروح كتاباً عظيمَ النفع، كثير الفائدة،قيل فيه :كتاب لم يؤلّف مثلُه في الإسلام، وهو كتابٌ في شمائل رسول الله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، كما يُعَدّ من أحسن الكتب المعَرِّفة به صلى الله عليه وسلم فهو من أهم الكتب في الشمائل وصفات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد أولاها العلماء اهتماماً بين مُهَذِّب وشارح ومُدَرِّس حتى عصرِنا.
ومن أشهر وأهم الكتب التي شرحته كتابنا هذا، فقد ضَمّنَ المؤلف أصلَ الكتاب - أي: الشفا - في سياق الشّرح، واهتمّ بشرح المفردات لغةً واصطلاحاً، ويسوق أقوال العلماء منسوبةً إليهم على جهة الإفاضة والإطالة وكشف الإشارات المخفية، ويترجم لبعض الأعلام، ويُعْرِبُ مواضعَ الإشكالات النّحْوية، ويورد فوائدَ أصولية ومسائلَ فقهيّة، ويعيِّن النّكاتِ البلاغية، ويذكر الشواهد من الآيات والأحاديث التي يوجهها، ويعزو بعضها إلى مخرجيها، وقد عَزا البعضَ الآخرَ المعلّق، وهو يورد الإشكالات ويجيب عنها إغناءً للمباحث، فالكتاب موسوعةٌ في الأخلاق والصفات والسنن النبوية.
والكتاب مُقَسَّمٌ أربعةَ أقسام:
القسم الأول: في تعظيم الله تعالى لقدر النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قولاً وفعلاً.
القسم الثاني: فيما يجب على العباد من حقوقه عليه الصلاة و السلام.

القسم الثالث: فيما يستحيل في حقِّه، وما يجوز وما يمتنع وما يصح.
القسم الرابع: في تصرُّف وُجُوه الأحكام على من تَنَقَّصه أو سَبَّه.

والمؤلّف هو: أحمد بن محمد بن عمر، شهاب الدين الخفاجي المصري (977-1069ﻫ)، قاضي القضاة وصاحب التصانيف في الأدب واللغة، نسبته إلى قبيلة خفاجة، ولد ونشأ بمصر، ورحل إلى بلاد الروم، ثم إلى الشام وحلب، وعاد إلى مصر وولي قضاءاً فيها إلى أن توفي.
بيانات الطبعة الأصلية: طبع هذا الكتاب عن الطبعة الأصلية المعتمدة والمطبوعة في المطبعة الأزهرية بمصر سنة 1325ﻫ بتصحيح ومراجعة الشيخ لإبراهيم الطحاوي الحنفي.

شرح الشفا بتعريف حقوق المصطفى للقاضي عياض  : تأليف الإمام علي القاري

يُعتبَر هذا الكتابُ من أفضل شروح كتاب (الشِّفا بتعريف حقوق المصطفى) للقاضي عياض، فقد قال عنه مُؤلِّفُه: قصدت أن أخدمه [أي: كتاب الشفا] بشرحٍ يشرحُ بعضَ ما يتعلّقُ به من تحقيق الإعراب والبناء، رجاء أن أسلُك في مسالك العلماء يوم الجزاء.
كما يُعَدّ الأصلُ المَشروحُ أجمعَ ما صُنِّفَ في بابه، فهو كتابٌ عظيمُ النّفع، كثيرُ الفائدة، قيل فيه :كتاب لم يؤلّف مثلُه في الإسلام، وهو كتابٌ في شمائل رسول الله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، كما يُعَدّ من أحسن الكتب المعَرِّفة به صلى الله عليه وسلم فهو من أهم الكتب في الشمائل وصفات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد أولاها العلماء اهتماماً بين مُهَذِّب وشارح ومُدَرِّس حتى عصرِنا.

والمؤلّف هو: المُلا نور الدين علي بن سلطان محمد الهروي القاري (1014ﻫ)، فقيهٌ حنفي من صدور العلم في عصره، ولد في هراة، وسكن مكة، وتوفي بها. قيل: كان يكتب في كل عام مُصحَفاً، وعليه طُرَرٌ مِنَ القِرَاءات والتفسير، فيبعيه، فيكفيه قوته من العام إلى العام.
صنف كتباً كثيرة، منها: (تفسير القرآن) ثلاثة مجلدات، و(الأثمار الجنية في أسماء الحنفية)، و(الفصول المهمة) فقه، و(بداية السالك) مناسك، و(شرح مشكاة المصابيح)، و(شرح مشكلات الموطأ)، و(شرح الشفاء)، و(شرح الحصن الحصين)، في الحديث، و(شرح الشمائل)، و(تعليق على بعض آداب المريدين، لعبد القاهر السهرودي)، و(سيرة الشيخ عبد القادر الجيلاني) رسالة، و(شرح الأربعين النووية)، و(تذكرة الموضوعات)، و(الجمالين على الجلالين) في التفسير، و(أربعون حديثا قدسية) رسالة، و(ضوء المعالي) شرح قصيدة بدء الأمالي، في التوحيد، و(منح الروض الأزهر في شرح الفقه الأكبر)، و(شرح كتاب عين العلم المختصر من الإحياء)، و(فتح الأسماع) فيما يتعلق بالسَّماع، و(توضيح المباني) شرح مختصر المنار في الأصول، و(الزبدة في شرح البردة)، وغيرها.

ABOUT THESE COMMENTARIES:
Mulla 'Ali al-Qari commentary and Imam al-Khafaji are two of the most relied upon commentaries on the Shifa' of Imam Qadhi Iyad. Both text are fundamental guides and are used for their specific target. While Mulla explores problematic nature of the language and words in his commentary, Imam al-Khafaji focuses on the principles of fiqh nature of the text. Both are exquisite commentaries and both are widely used for scholarly discussions and or teaching circles.     


 

ABOUT THIS PRINT:
This print is a combined print of two of the most used commentaries of the Shifa'. Imam Mulla Ali al-Qari commentay is printed on the margins of this text and it is the smaller of the two commentaries while the larger commentary is the one by Imam al-Khafaji found within the text box. Printed based on the classical Bab Halabi print, reading this text might be difficult to some but to many it is preferred method as this is known to be one of the best printed style in the middle east. This text is checked and edited by an expert of the Shifa' text.

ABOUT IMAM AL-QADI 'IYAD:
He is Qadi ʿIyad ibn Musa (1083–1149) Abu al-Fadl `Iyad ibn Amr ibn Musa ibn `Iyad ibn Muhammad ibn Abdillah ibn Musa ibn `Iyad al-Yahsubi al-Sabti born in Ceuta, then belonging to the Almoravid Empire, was the great imam of that city and, later, a high judge (Qadi) in Granada. 

 

Qadi Iya was born into an established family of Arab origin in Ceuta. As a scion of a notable scholarly family, ʿIyad was able to learn from the best teachers Ceuta had to offer. The judge Abu ʿAbd Allah Muhammad b. ʿIsa (d. 505/1111) was ʿIyad’s first important teacher and is credited with his basic academic formation. Growing up, ʿIyad benefited from the traffic of scholars from al-Andalus, the Maghrib, and the eastern Islamic world. He became a prestigious scholar in his own right and won the support of the highest levels of society. In his quest for knowledge, Iyad spent part of 507/1113 and 508/1114 visiting Cordoba, Murcia, Almeria, and Granada. He received ijāzas from the most important traditionist of his time, Abū ʿAlī al-adafī (d. 514/1120) in Murcia, and met with some of the most celebrated scholars of the moment, such as Ibn al-Hajj (d. 529/1134), Ibn Rushd (d. 520/1126), and Ibn Hamdin (d. 508/1114).

 

ʿIyad was appointed judge of Ceuta in 515/1121 and served in the position until 531/1136. During his tenure as judge of Ceuta he was extremely prolific. Iyad's overall fame as a jurist and as a writer of fiqh (positive law) was based on the work he did in this city. ʿIyad was also appointed the judge of Grenada where he worked for just over a year. He headed a revolt against the coming of the Almohades to Ceuta, but lost and was banished to Tadla and later Marrakech. He was a pupil of Abu Abdillah ibn Isa, Abu Abdillah ibn Hamdin and Abu al-Hassan ibn Siraj, and was a teacher of Ibn Sina (Averroes) and Ibn Maāʾ. Although he was opposed to the Almohads and the ideas of Ibn Hazm, he did not hold enmity for the Zahari school of Sunni Islam, which the Almohads and Ibn Hazm followed. ʿIyad's comments on Ibn Hazm's teacher Abu al-Khiyar al-Zahiri were positive, as was ʿIyad's characterisation of his own father, a Zahirite theologian. ʿIyad University, also known as the University of Marrakech, was named after him. Qadi ʿIyad is also well known as one of the seven saints of Marrakech and is buried near Bab Aïlen.

 

He was one of the most famous scholars of Maliki law and author of well known works such as:

--- Ash-Shifa bi Ta'rif Huquq al-Mustafa; on the virtue of the Prophet.

--- Tartib al-mardarik wa taqrib al-masalik li-ma'rifat a'lam madhab Malik, a collection of biographies of eminent Malikis, a.o. Abu Bakr ibn al-Arabi.

--- Ikmal al-mu`lim bi fawa'id Muslim, a famous commentary on Sahih Muslim which transmitted and expanded upon al-Maziri's own commentary, al-Mu`lim bi-fawa'id Muslim. Qadi `Iyad's own commentary was utilised and expounded upon heavily by Al-Nawawi in his own commentary of Sahih Muslim.

--- Bughya al-ra'i lima Tadmanahu Hadith Umm Zara` min al-Fawa'id, published with Tafsir nafs al-Hadith by Al-Suyuti.

--- al-I`lam bi Hudud Qawa'id al-Islam, written on the five pillars of Islam.

--- al-Ilma` ila Ma`rifa Usul al-Riwaya wa Taqyid al-Sama`, a detailed work on the science of Hadith.

--- Mashariq al-Anwar `ala Sahih al-Athar, based on al-Muwatta of Malik ibn Anas, Sahih Al-Bukhari of Imam Bukhari and Sahih Muslim by Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj.

--- al-Tanbihat al-Mustanbata `ala al-kutub al-Mudawwana wa al-Mukhtalata.

--- Daqa`iq al-akhbar fi dhikr al-janna wa-l-nar, a "eschatological manual" describing the joys of jannah (heaven) and the horrors of jahannam (hell),

He died in in 544H-1149CE. Because he refused to acknowledge Ibn Tumart as the awaited Mahdi, Qadi ʿIyad was executed with a spear and his body subsequently cut to pieces.

 

 

 

ABOUT MULLA 'ALI AL-QARI:
He One of the great Hanafi masters of hadith and Imams of fiqh, Qur'anic commentary, language, history and tasawwuf, and theologian, was born and grew up in Herat, afghanistan where he received his early Islamic education. He travelled to Makkah and settled there until his death in 1014 /1605. His scholarship was exacting and his output profuse having composed works - a great number being encyclopaedic in nature - on just about every field and subfield of the traditional Islamic disciplines.

He authored several great commentaries such as;

--- Tafsir al-Qur'an (تفسير القرآن) ;

--- al-Mirqat (مرقاة المفاتيح شرح مشكاة المصابيح) on Mishkat al-masabih in several volumes,
